AUSTRALIA: December to March 19/20

DECEMBER 2019

Two months after my arrival, I visited a lot of sites of what I could call my new city, Brisbane.

Queen Street Mall was one of my favorite spot in town. There were so many activities to do including shopping, restaurants, bar and shows in the street.

Southbank beach lagoon was my second favorite place. A spot to swim, meet people, eat a variety of good food, walk around the park and the street and there is a big cinema.

NIGHTLIFE IN BRISBANE

During the night, the most famous area to party was Fortitude Valley, the place to go in the early evening around 9 pm to get free drinks and free entries. Most of the time, we would buy a 15 AUD traditionally drunk by broke students to drink. We would drink this before to enter the club to reduce the alcohol that was expensive. In this area, you can meet a lot of International students and people from different countries and have fun, drink, and dance. Most of these times I came back to my house at 6 am ( one hour with the bus) because the clubs close mostly at 5 am.

There were many choices for the clubs my top listings were :

-Prohibition ( Electric, commercial music, and a special room for Latino songs )

- The GPO ( a special Latino club but also a space for the electro)

-The met ( a special club for the electro)

-the cloud-land ( Latino, a place for dance the Salsa).

And a special bar/club with funny games and good vibes: Down Under. Grill and bar.

The other places I visited during these 2 months were the Attraction Parc at 1 hour from Brisbane, at Warner Bros, Movie World on Gold Coast.

December was a special month for me because I had always dreamed to live Christmas holidays during summer as it happens in this part of the world.

One of my initial dreams before going to Australia was celebrating this season in company of my best bikini and many mojitos.

I had the opportunity to realized my dream just after getting my diploma from my EF school leaving with a B1 level in English.

I didn't end with the best grade that I was expending before to start this school and I needed practicing my English skills to be able to live and found a job offer in Australia.

My only chance was to improve myself everyday to speak English, my first help was my boyfriend, he is Mexican and he is Bilingue in English, I had then the opportunity to continue to speak in English every day but also to learn some words in Spanish.

FIRST TRIP IN PARADISE

Moreton Island was my first road trip in Australia with Salvador for two days.

MORETON ISLAND

Two days dreaming on the Island. We booked for two days, bedrooms, food, and activities were included to the pack.

The first day, we took the boat and discovered the beautiful blue water and wonderful nature of Australia.

Arriving to the Island, the bus and the animator was waiting for us to cross a big part of the island to bring us to the first activity. The lighthouse of Moreton Island was the first activity, then we walked to the secret beaches, the first one was Honeymoon Bay then the beach with the name of Champagne Pool.

During the early evening, we came back close to the camping site, crossing though the Island again. Arriving to the camp, we explored the zone until we found a forest that bring us to a beautiful beach, we arrived with the perfect timing and admired the amazing sunset on the extent of the beach and white sand, there was a lot of ruins of the boats on the sand but also far away in the sea.

On the way to come back to the camping site, we almost get lost in the forest, fortunately, we had enough battery on the phone to put the light and find our camp.

The second day, the transparent kayak was the first activity and we had the opportunity to get closer to the big ruins of two old boats, in the middle of the sea, I was so scared of the sharks but this day we were lucky I guess, we had an amazing experience doing the kayak, swimming in the wonderful blue water, feeding the colorful fish that who accumulated each time we feed them of bread.

After two hours on the beach, the next activity was the dune, surfing on the white sand, it was not an easy thing for an unprofessional but really funny and with a beautiful view.

We ended these memorable moments this day but for sure it was not the last one.

CHRISTMAS IN SUMMER

Christmas with hot weather, wearing shorts and a t-shirt every day was so unbelievable for me, I was literally dreaming.

The city was full of events, between multiple parades during the week, fireworks, airplane shows.

But for the first Christmas in Australia, Salvador and I decided to go out of the city for this event.

STRADBROKE ISLAND AND GOLD COAST

For Christmas, we went to Stradbroke Island, swam on the island, discovered the beautiful nature, meet a lot of Kangaroo, eating a Pic-Nic with the help of the BBQ on our disposition.

We booked for 2 days on Airbnb in Gold Coast and we were so good there that we wanted to stay a few days more.

We went to the Dreamworld Attraction park, we went to a big zoo. It was beautiful to see so many different animals in this beautiful country but also sad for the fact there was there without enough spaces for live…

We visited Gold Coast, this big city with a big contrast between the beach and the crazy building.

We came back one day to our house in Brisbane to finally do the First New Year in Australia on Gold Coast.

Watching the sunset, the firework, and eating. We did fell asleep on the beach to see at the first hour the beautiful sunrise.

JANUARY 2020

NEW YEAR, NEW GOALS

The 3 months in Brisbane passed too fast, A New Year, New Goals.

I finished school, I needed to work.

Before to go in Australia I was planning toward on the farm to be able to stay one year more in Australia.

But we were still in January, I thought in times I had enough months to me be able to found a job opportunity to extend my visa.

My research for found a job offer was not really successful.

My level of English was not one of the best, And my economies started to decrease, months after months.

So in January, I started to look for it. But I guess I was not in my best determination or just enough lucky. To be honest, I just wanted to enjoy my free moment a little bit more.

I traveled, I visit around the city, making the maximum of activities that I could found.

FEBRUARY 2020

NEW HOUSE/ JOB/ ADVENTURE

In this month we get fired from the house for a reason that we couldn't really identify, so we needed to found quickly a new place, and lucky we were, we found another perfect place to stay in Quay street, still near to the center, In a bedroom with private bathroom, 360 each one.

We had also roommates from different nationalities and we had a beautiful view of a bridge. We had a private gym, pool, and jacuzzi in the residence.

This month I had some cash jobs like cleaning missions, hand kitchen, and also babysitting. That helps me to save money.

We went out many times to the clubs, and during the weekend we went to Gold Coast, Stradbroke Island than was our favorites place to go on a little trip.

Sleeping on the island, improvising a camp that was the best activity that Salvador loved to do.

A lot of fun facts about these moments, that I can say in a future post.

MARCH 2020

BIG PLANNING OF THE ROAD TRIP 

I had the opportunity to save money, but at the beginning of the month of March, unfortunately, my Job offers were less present and I get really fast bored of I was doing nothing special and excited.

Then I was waiting for Salvador to have some holidays for organized a big and good Road trip.
